10 days Kerala Cycle Trips
Cochin - Thattekad – Munnar – Periyar – Kumarakom - Marari
(grade: easy-moderate to challenging)

Day 01 Arrive Cochin

Meeting & Greeting on arrival at Cochin airport and transfer by car to Hotel
Rest of the afternoon free to re-fit & ready your cycles

Day 02            Kochi-Thattekkad (57 kms)

Today we will start our Kerala Bicycle Trips:

After breakfast we start cycling towards the foothills of the Western Ghats, the lowland forests of Thattekkad. We cycle through the scenic countryside of temples, churches, schools, small towns/villages/canal, paddy fields, rubber plantations.

(Total distance is 57 kms and cycling possible on entire route.  Easy to moderate minor village/small town roads with occasional hike

Day 03 Thattekkad-Munnar (72 kms)

After breakfast start cycle ride to Munnar
Today is a day of climbing to the heights at Munnar at over 1600 meters. We will pass through Cocoa , Cashew, teakwood, Mango, pepper & coconut plantations.

(Total distance is 72 kms and cycling possible on the entire route – last few kms are very steep.

Day 04 Munnar (55 kms cycling)

Today we will take cycling towards Kundala Dam through Swiss dairy farm, Madupetty – full of tea estate gardens/beautiful views around.

 Day 05            Munnar-Periyar (total 113 kms)

After breakfast we start cycling to Periyar.  Mountain roads - challenging hikes are expected.

You can do cycling as much as possible.  Support vehicle is available, if required, we can transfer you to Periyar after 65-70 kms of cycling.

Day 06 Periyar (no cycling today)

Morning boat ride to watch the wildlife.

Afternoon visit of spice plantation + elephant ride

Evening watch Kalaripayattu (Kerala Martial Art)

 

Day 07 Periyar-Kumarakom

After breakfast we start cycling towards Kumarakom.  We cycle approximately 85 kms, out of which 20 kms is deep descend with challenging curves.  Then proceed to Kumarakom by vehicle. Kumarakom -  the gateway to the backwaters, is unbelievably beautiful paradise of mangrove forests, emerald green paddy fields and coconut groves interspersed with enchanting waterways.

Day 08 Kumarakom-Marari Beach (cycling via Alleppey for 60 kms)

After breakfast start cycle ride to Marari Beach via Alleppey.  Easy cycling on village/small town flat tarmac roads.    Rest of the day free at the beach.

Day 09 Marari-Fort Kochi (45 kms cycling)

After breakfast start cycling to Fort Kochi.

Total distance is 45 kms and cycling possible on the entire route.  This is a flat tarmac road, most of the cycling on the village/coastal area, visiting fisherman’s villages. 

Afternoon visit of Fort Cochin + last moment shopping.

 

Day 10 Kochi-Departure

Transfer to Cochin airport

End of your Kerala Cycling Holidays.

Insurance your own arrangement.  You have to take adequate Insurance coverage.

 

Bike Hire & other items

We provide Hybrid Cycle free in the tour or you can bring your own cycle.

Saddle and helmet are also provided free. 

But if you wish to bring your own helmet/ saddle/pedal to fit into your personal style, you can bring the same.  If you wish you can also bring your own cycle/bike.

 

Support

Supporting vehicle & driver will follow the riders throughout the Kerala Cycle trip for all kind of assistance & route direction and take care of the day to day bike maintenance.

 

The vehicle will carry your luggage too. Bottled water & fruits will be provided en-route.

 

Daily cycling in Kerala

Cycling is possible as per the distance mentioned each day in the programme.  But you can choose the distance for the daily cycling as per your cycling ability.

Easy – on a tarmac village/small town roads

(No routes are 100% flat, so there might be odd climbs and descent during your Bicycling Tour in Kerala)

50% advance required at the time of booking or 45 days prior to your arrival, whichever comes early.  Balance & full advance to be made 21 days prior to your arrival.

 

Cancellation Policy

100% refund if you cancel 30 days prior to travel

 50% refund if you cancel 15 days prior to travel

 25% refund if you cancel 7 days prior to travel

No refund if you cancel after that

Kerala4you Holidays shall not be held responsible for any damage, expense or inconvenience caused by Acts of God, change of schedule, strikes, vehicle breakdown, or other conditions.  The right is reserved to alter the itinerary if necessary.  There is an element of risk involved in any adventure activity including traffic accidents, etc.  You must follow our instructions and obey the road rules at all times.  You must release or indemnify Kerala4you Holidays and our staff against any liability we incur to anyone else, resulting from your failure to follow our instructions.

We also reserve the right to cancel the day's cycling due to any unavoidable circumstances.
